The Aiming High Shuttle is an accessible VW Transporter Shuttle with 9 seats, positionable in a variety of layouts. The shuttle is able to take up to two wheelchairs (1 wheelchair and 7 seated passengers, 2 wheelchairs and 6 seated passengers) and comes complete with ramp for side or rear access, and wheelchair restraint system.
The shuttle can be driven on an ordinary car licence, all we ask is that drivers are confident driving a large vehicle, have at least two years driving experience, and are 21 or over. The shuttle is available for parents and carers of disabled young people in addition to youth organisations.
A milage rate is charged with a fuel card provided. Rates are 42.5p per mile for generic youth provision, and a subsidised rate of 30p per mile for disability youth projects, plus a £5 admin charge per booking.
A refundable £50 deposit against cleaning is payable on the shuttle, this will be taken by credit or debit card.
Fuel Options The shuttle comes with an Arval All Star fuel card that can be used at the majority of UK Petrol Stations, including supermarkets. Please fill the shuttle to full, you will only be charged for the milage you do.
CONDITIONS OF USE
- The first time you drive the minibus you will be asked to provide a copy of your driving licence including counterpart.
- Your cost centre or organisation will be liable for the Insurance excess for any loss or damage.
- The minibus is not insured for personal use and must only be used for West Sussex County Council business.
- The driver(s) will be responsible for any parking or speeding fines occured whilst using the minibus
- Oil, water, tyres and fuel should be checked at the journey’s start and end. They are the responsibility of the user whilst the van is on hire.
- Users of the bus should fill the tank to its maximum capacity at the end of the day.
- Payment must be made at time of booking, please make cheques payable to Horsham Youth Centre or call with credit or debit card.
- The van uses DIESEL ONLY do not use the incorrect fuel.
- Vehicle repairs required, resulting from negligence whilst on hire will be the responsibility of the user.
- The van should be clean at the journey's start and end, failure to comply with this will result in a charge of £10 per hour being made to clean the van (minumum charge one hour).
- When driving the van please be aware of its height and length at all times. Please be aware that it can be too long for a normal parking space, and that it is certainly too big for the majority of multi-story car parks.
- As it is a 'workplace' and in the interests of keeping it clean for other users the van is strictly no smoking.
- It is illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving the minibus
- Under no circumstances should any equipment be stored in the minibus whilst it is not in use.
- Keys must be collected and returned to Horsham Youth Centre. If you will be returning out of hours please make arrangement for return of the keys.
- The shuttle is stored at Horsham Youth Centre, please park it at the front of the centre next to the snackwagon.
- Please carry out a thorough check of the shuttle before and after use, noting milage, condition and any damage. Please return with payment and keys once you have finished using it.
- We accept no liability and make no guarentees in case of break down or unavailability for any reason, however we will do everything we can to meet your requirements.

- Breakdown cover is provided by Volkswagon, if you need assistance please call VW Roadside Assistance on 0800 777172.
- If possible please contact Sam using the contact details above to advise of the situation. If needed we will try to arrange a replacement van, however this may be chargable depending on circumstances.

How to book:
- Call 01403888025 or email caroline.martin@horshamlive.co.uk, you will be asked to confirm your booking in writing or by email.
- We will invoice you in advance for the hire, payment can be made by Cheque, Cash or by Debit or Credit Card. For the minibus you will be asked to pay a £50 deposit towards cleaning (as a seperate cheque, or card imprint).
- Send copies of driving license(s) and for the minibus WSCC Minibus Drivers Permit, or bring with you on collection.
- Collect Van / Minibus - you will be given a sheet to fill in condition, start and end milage plus any faults during the journey. Please check before you drive off.
- Replace fuel you use at the end of your journey, ensure that all rubbish is removed and the van or minibus is left clean.
- Return key with usage sheet noting final milage.
Payment Policy In order to keep costs to a minimum, we ask that all transactions of under £50 are paid at the point of use by credit or debit card. You will be given a reciept to reclaim your expenditure from your own organisation.
We accept all major credit or debit cards, as well as government 'P Cards' issued by Visa or Mastercard.
Internal West Sussex Youth Service users will be invoiced termly.
Deposits Deposits taken by card will be refunded within 2 working days of the return of the vehicle.
Central London Congestion Charge The shutting is exempt from the congestion charge as it has 9 or more seats, it is registered with Transport for London, you don't need pay a charge or register if you enter the congestion charging zone.
Disabled Passengers If you are carrying passengers that are disabled please ask for the blue badge for the shuttle, this is kept in the office, and must only be used when disabled passengers are on board.
The minibus is not exempt from Road Fund License therefore in the majority of car parks you must still pay and display.
